I've just migrated the site over to new servers hosted by
Webfaction.
This gives me more than double the amount of storage and gives me much more flexible options
when it comes to emerging web technologies, such as Ruby on Rails,
Turbogears, Python and
Django as well as upgrading to PHP5.
Also, in a week or two, I hope to have the home page running as a fully customised Wordpress blog, so I might
actually start posting stuff a bit more often!
The Photos section will be down for a little while, until I can ge them uploaded to the new servers, but may
be down a bit longer if I decide to sort the gallery code out. Thanks for your patience.
*Shameless personal plug alert*
I have recently had a load of photos (10!) printed in A3 size from
Photobox.co.uk and am extremely
pleased with them.
Their site lets you get speedily delivered prints of your digital
photos for cheap prices and are always running special offers.
They also let you create a "Pro Gallery" for free, where you can
sell photos for the cost of a normal print plus a premium (profit) that you
set and you then get that profit.
I've put a few of my more arty photos into some Pro Galleries, fully
expecting no one to ever buy any, but as I haven't lost anything by doing it
it seemed like a good idea anywhere. You can find my gallery at
http://www.photoboxgallery.com/garycollins.
My photos from the Valmorel February 2007 ski trip are up and in
GPhoto for your viewing pleasure.
I still need to get the Savory"s and Chapman"s photos when
they"re ready.
I've been producing a new photo gallery system, which is still no where near
completion, but I've put an early version of it online (yes I know the positioning
is all over the place in Firefox) so I could show you the
Alpe d'Huez photos with the minimum of effort.
I'd watch out for the groups of photos that were taken on continuous mode as you
might want to skip these!
Enjoy!
*Update* Alan's photos from Christmas are now up on GPhoto as well.
Unfortunately I'm starting to run out of web space because of the amount
of photos I have on here so I've started downsizing them to 800x600 from
1024x768, so I should be able to get about a third more photos on than
before when I"m finished.
Well it's nearly that time again... October the 10th is my 23rd(eek!) Birthday!
Only trouble is, it's a tuesday (midweek again grr).
The plan for this year is to go down to Falmouth the weekend before and go out there
for Ian's birthday (his is the 9th), then it's back to Fleet the week after
for mine (Saturday the 14th of October).
Yes, that means Jaxx... Again (fun). Mainly because all my uni mates really enjoyed
it last year (catch the photos of my Mum, Dad and Uncle on the now missing podium
here, hahaha)
and want to go again. There must've been well over 30 of us (family, uni and Fleet mates)
out last year and everyone seemed to have a great time, so I'd love it if you all
turned up again and made it an even better night than last year!
Anyone who needs a place to stay, there's plenty of floor space at my house
and a few beds/sofas for those that get there first!
I'll probably be having a gathering at my place (with either a BBQ or takeaway -or both-
depending on the lovely October weather, at which everyone is more than welcome on the day!
Hope to see you all on the 14th!
Haha! Valmorel is no more! (yipeee) We've outgrown the sleepy slopes of Valmorel and
the Christmas trip has moved to L'Alpe d'Huez!
It's a much bigger resort with more challenging slopes for those of us that are getting
better (while still having loads of the more gentle slopes for the less experienced/less
nutty amongst us), potentially a hell of a lot more good quality off piste for exploring
and a lot more bars to go out in!
Dates for this year are: 23rd of december to the 6th of January.
Those driving will leave late on friday the 22nd of December and leave on tuesday the 2nd of January.
Hello!
At last I have gotten off my backside and actually made something
for this site! My PHP and webdesign skills are improving by the day
and I am slowly adding more and more content to the site as I learn
how to code it.
Much of the content is not fully implemented, so there may still be
a few bugs to iron out.
All of my current project ideas can be found (in various states of
completion) over in the projects
section, with my first major project being gBlog (my
attempt at a blogging solution) soon to feature on the homepage so I
can easily keep you lucky people up to date on everything I have been
up to (including my personal/social life!) and any updates to the
site.
o0o0o0o I can tell you are excited already! ;)
P.S. Do not worry the Fatboy is still here!
